Samaritan shows. For Jesus the issue of responding with love is an outgrowth of what God provides when people turn to him in love. Jesus’ answer has a concrete quality that he consistently displays in his teaching. As he has said earlier, his family consists of those who hear and do what he says (8:19–21).
